"One at a Time" Digital Clock
Challenging the act of constantly checking the time by creating an interactive and physical experience with the concept of time.
Atelier Waiter
Brief:
In small teams design an interactive object or space utilising Arduino or Raspberry Pi technology, it must be centred around the studio-wide theme of "waiter" or "waiting" for an end of semester exhibition.

Prior to forming small teams we each wrote a "Domus" style article on a waiting object/place/experience.
This led to forming teams of similar interests.

Final Outcomes

The "One at a Time" digital clock displays a crossover in art and functional design. At first glance, it presents a random yet intriguing sequence of lights, leaving onlookers curious as to what it is. To become useful, it requires physical interaction. When a user presses the button, the time is revealed, but not instantly; it is slow, and each digit is unveiled pixel by pixel. Our innovative timepiece challenges the act of constantly checking the time; instead, it becomes an experience which evokes our senses. With a simple press, art becomes design, and human connection is restored.
